About the Course
If there's one thing I've learned from going to the East Coast...
Well, there's a couple things I've learned. I've learned that:
We are so close to competing with anyone, yet being so close, is also so far.
In some areas, we understand lacrosse like the best of the best.
In other areas, we need SERIOUS improvement.
They pass better.
They groundball better.
But MOST IMPORTANTLY, they shoot better.
I'm going to tell you a story...
It's year 1 at Crabfeast, I'm coaching our 8th graders, and we're all excited, nervous, and anxious... Who wouldn't feel this way!
As you can imagine though, we didn't do so hot. We went 0-5 🙃
BUT, we competed in every 6v6 set. It was genuinely cool to see.
Which is why I said in point #1 — We are so close.
Over the course of the weekend, we got outshot probably 150 - 20.
And my brain got used to seeing their shot speed. (I've chatted with parents about this too and theirs did as well.)
All tournament long, we we're giving up hands free time and room shots from 10 yards.
All tournament long, we didn't get a hands free time and room shot, at all...
...Until game 5 that is. Versus Eclipse Black, the Number 8 team in the Nation.
We worked our offense until the point where we had the defense so confused... It looked great!
We got the ball to one of our best players, whom we won't name.
And he's at 12 yards, hands free, no defender in sight.
He's stepping forward, stares down the goalie, goalies in his stance, staring our shooter down as well.
Our shooter takes the biggest crow hop I've ever seen, and I'm thinking "let's go, we're about to get a good one".
We shoot.
And I didn't know we had this superpower, but in this moment, I learned we had a superpower.
We had the ability to stop time.
This shot moved so slow to the net, the goalie turned his head...
Looked at me...
Winked...
Took his hand off his stick...
Looked at his imaginary wrist watch...
Put his hand back on his stick...
Politely caught the pass we just threw at him...
Passed it to an outlet breaking up field...
And they scored a 4v3 fast break goal.
To say it was demoralizing is an understatement.
If we can't shoot at good pace, it will ALWAYS be a challenge is play at the highest of levels.
The defense won't have to approach out with fear of giving up a goal.
The defense won't have to slide to our dodgers.
AND our goalies are used to shots 10 MPH slower than what he will see that game.
This is all to say that we need to become better shooters.
Insert the Project KC Shooting Academy.
Here's the plan.
Session 1, we're going to measure your shot speed, shot accuracy, and how far you can throw the ball. Then, we are going to teach you the drills the drills to become a great shooter.
Session 2, we're going to measure our shot speed, shot accuracy, and how far you can throw the ball again.
We're going to meet a 5th time for one final session to measure our shot speed, shot accuracy, and how far you can throw the ball.
If you/your son completes the 2000 shot challenge and does not beat his week 1 numbers, I will personally give you your money back. No questions asked.
We are also going to add you to the Project KC At-Home Training Platform giving you workout plans to complete in your backyard or your local school.
The At-Home workouts are going to mirror what we're learning at the shooting academy.
We're also going to place you in the 2000 Shot Challenge.
Each At-Home workout is 125 shots.
We will program them every day of the week, but you only need to complete 3 days.
3 At-Home workouts, plus 1 weekly in person session of 125+ reps = 2000 Shots!
Is $400 expensive for four weeks?
Yes it is. I kind of hate doing it.
But I also gave free at home training programs, and less that 10 of our kids did them :/
And as the adage goes, "don't give away things for free. Humans don't value what they don't pay for".
And this is so valuable. I've seen what 2000 reps do to kids confidence and ability.
So, if you want to become a better lacrosse player, join us in the Project KC Shooting Academy and 2000 Shot Challenge.
Let's get to work.
